These included the writer Agatha Christie, the designers Edward McKnight Kauffer and Marion Dorn, the actors Sybil Thorndike and Lewis Casson, and the aristocrat Tom Mitford, member of the famous family. It was later the first home of Margaret and Denis Thatcher.
