Most of us have been brought up to believe that if at first you don’t succeed, the answer is to try, try again. But there’s another saying to bear in mind: repeating the same process and expecting different results is the definition of insanity. Tens of thousands of unsuccessful vendors will need to pick a path between perseverance and innovation this spring as they prepare to try to sell their home — again.

Of the properties taken off the market in the second quarter of last year — the most up-to-date figures available — more were withdrawn because they didn’t find a buyer than actually sold — 51% were removed and 49% were purchased, according to the property software firm Reapit.
