HOT GOSSIP

Practically perfect

Mary Poppins opened at the Prince Edward Theatre in the West End this week and by some supercalifragilisticexpialidocious coincidence, 29 Shawfield Street in Chelsea, southwest London, came to market (£4.85 million, Russell Simpson). The four-bedroom house is where PL (Pamela Lyndon) Travers, the creator of Mary Poppins, lived for 30 years. The house featured in the Disney hit about the author, Saving Mr Banks, in which Travers was played by Emma Thompson who is said to have stayed in the house during filming.
