Addison Road, a gorgeous country house nestled in the hustle and bustle of London features as Country & Townhouse’s property of the month.
Most unusual feature?
The double height reception room, lit up by natural light through large dormer windows.
Any juicy history?
The former home of notable Pre-Raphaelite artist Herbert Schmalz, a painter of oriental and biblical subjects. He used the reception room as his studio and painted a number of his works there.
Who would enjoy living here?
This is the perfect family home; children of all ages would enjoy living here. There are a number of bedrooms, family rooms, study areas and a large garden to enjoy. And, Holland Park is just around the corner, another added bonus.
Where can we kick back and escape from it all?
Sitting in the back garden enjoying the sound of the wind through the trees, birds singing and the water feature flowing you can completely escape and forget you’re in the middle of one of the largest, busiest cities in the world.
Will we need to hire a gardener?
There is a large hedgerow garden with planted bushes, flowers and trees to happily maintain, however, the patio and water feature minimise the need for constant upkeep of a lawn.
Does it need a lick of paint?
The property has been regularly refurbished and maintained, unless you dislike the ambience of a quaint country home, you could move in and feel at home with ease.
Is there room for the Merc?
Yes, a spacious garage with room for a large car is present at the rear of the property.
Perks of the location?
An enviable location – within moments of Holland Park, a short walk to Kensington High Street and a little further onto Hyde Park.
So… what’s the downside?
Once you see it, you’ll fall in love, so make sure you’re in a position to make an offer or someone else could snap it up!
