Situated in the heart of London’s tony Knightsbridge district, a rare property within the Pont Street Mews is currently on the market for £5.65 million (US$7.06 million).
“The great thing is the location—it’s quite close to Harrods, but it’s so tucked away that few people know where it is,” said Laura Askew, negotiator with listing agency Russell Simpson. “It’s very private and you don’t have any traffic noises.”
According to the listing, which went live at the end of May, Pont Street Mews originally comprised a collection of stables housing the private cabs and horses of those living on the neighboring Pont Street, and provided accommodation for their staff and servants. One of 26 houses on the cobblestone cul-de-sac, this house has retained a traditional facade, featuring shuttered windows and stable doors.
“What’s so unusual about this house is that mews houses tend to only have windows at the front,” Ms. Askew said. “This one has windows out the back as well, which makes it much brighter than others of its kind.”
The 2,400-square-foot house has three bedrooms and four bathrooms as well as a double basement, which includes a high-tech family/media room, a utility chamber and a private study area. The ground floor houses an open kitchen and a dining/living space. The lower ground floor has a gym and a shower room, as well as a guest bedroom suite. The master bedroom suite occupies the entire first floor, with a guest bedroom suite situated on the top floor.
