Listing of the Day

Location: Belgravia, London

Price: £6 million (US$7.3 million)

In the heart of the Belgravia Conservation Area, a handsome Georgian family home of generous proportions stands on one of London’s most prestigious residential addresses.

The stately five-bedroom townhouse, which is being offered as a whisper listing, offers formal entertaining space as well as a private, south-facing walled garden.

“The garden is really very special — it’s extremely well-planted and designed with mature trees, green views and views of St. Peter’s Church on Eaton Square,” said Jake Russell of Russell Simpson. “A 42-foot south-facing garden is extraordinary — it’s rarely seen in this area.”

Built in 1817, the home was comprehensively renovated in 2000 when central air conditioning was added, which Mr. Russell noted is “very unusual for houses of this type in the area.”

The formal dining room, eat-in kitchen, guest cloakroom and a study are all found on the ground floor. One floor up, the formal drawing room’s floor-to-ceiling windows flood the space with natural light; a separate reading room provides a calm space and views of the iconic St. Peter’s Church.

The second and third floors house the master and guest suites, and the fourth floor has two additional bedrooms and a family bathroom. The home’s lower ground floor has a large family room, which could be used as an additional bedroom, as well as a utility room, storage vaults and staff living quarters.

Stats

The 3,632-square-foot home has five bedrooms and four full bathrooms.

Amenities

Though located in the heart of London, the property is exceptionally quiet, and has central air conditioning, as well as an integrated home control system.

The garden receives abundant sunlight in the evening and includes an elegant paved area for al fresco dining.

Celebrity Cachet

The home is located on Wilton Street, which, according to the listing, is reportedly where the Royal Family stayed after being evacuated from Buckingham Palace during World War II. The area counts famous dignitaries, politicians and artists as former residents. “Henry Gray, author of Gray’s Anatomy, lived at No.8 in 1827-61,” Mr. Russell said. “And the Queen is a stone’s throw away at Buckingham Palace.”

Neighborhood Notes

The home is on Wilton Street, which is situated just to the east of Belgrave Square and is close to Buckingham Palace Gardens and Green Park. Mayfair is within easy walking distance, as are many luxury boutiques, art galleries and Michelin-starred restaurants.
